Visit The National Garden Scheme This Spring

Matt Crisp April 16, 2018

Coach hire to villages near Basingstoke could be used to ensure you and your local horticultural society could visit the National Garden Scheme this spring.

The National Garden Scheme sees gardens opened around the UK for charity, though these are not professional gardens but those created by amateurs in their own homes.

Often parking is not a priority to make sure you hire a coach to visit this with any group you are travelling with to avoid disappointment.

Here are some upcoming events in Hampshire this Spring:

Little Court

This 3-acre walled garden is renowned for its naturalised bulbs including snowdrops and crocuses. Head there this spring to see it at its best or wat until the summer to see spectacular butterflies in July.

The garden is located in Crawley, with proceeds going to the local village hall. Book online.

Cottage in the Trees

Another garden renowned for its spring bulbs is the Cottage in the Trees near Salisbury. Head here to see what can be done with a smaller ½ acre cottage garden.

This is great for roses, bots and baskets and clematis, if you are looking for some inspiration of what to do with those.

2 Church Cottages

This cottage based in Petersfield is near the River Test, and features 2.5 acres of traditional cottage garden both back and front.

This is a sight for sore eyes for the more ambitious gardener. Take in their nursery, greenhouse, cutting garden and orchard to get an idea of just what is possible in a smaller space with enough time and commitment.

The owner is currently developing a wildlife pond and woodland walk, and tea is available afterwards in the barn.
