Where To Go To Enjoy The Forthcoming Heatwave!

Matt Crisp June 25, 2018

Joy of joys! We’re about to be blessed with a serious heatwave and for us sun-starved Brits, this is certainly nothing but excellent news! The Met Office has said temperatures will rise for the last week of June and in some parts of England and Wales the mercury could even surpass 30 degrees C… so don’t forget to pack the sun cream when you go off on your jollies.

But where should you go? Where’s the best place to potter off to for a spot of lovely English sunshine? Here are just a few spots you might want to sort out Aylesbury coach hire for to whisk you off for a day or two. Which of these are you most likely to pick?

Barricane Beach, North Devon

Pop off to Woolacombe in North Devon and you’ll find the stunning Barricane Beach (also known as Combesgate for those following a satnav). The beach itself is nestled between rocks and is lovely and private if you want to avoid tourist traps. Keep your eyes peeled for cowries and exotic sea shells to take home again with you.

Eltham Palace, London

If you want to get away from it all without actually getting away from anything, make your way to Eltham Palace in London, home to 19 acres of award-winning gardens… so even though you’ll be in the Big Smoke, you’ll feel as though you’re in the middle of nowhere, getting some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Hayburn Wyke, Yorkshire

This delightful wooded valley is one of the hidden gems of the Heritage Coast, with a stunning rocky cove, incredible waterfall and huge boulders. If you’re looking for a day out with a difference, this would certainly fit the bill. Don’t forget your hiking shoes as there’s a five-mile circular walk to enjoy – and keep your eyes well peeled for the likes of badger, fox, roe deer, woodpeckers and lots more lovely wildlife.

Achmelvich beach

If the idea of a long drive doesn’t daunt you, head off to WesterRoss on Scotland’s west coast and you’ll find the incredible Achmelvich beach… the sand is powdery, the water crystal clear – you’re to be forgiven if you start thinking you’re actually sunning yourself in the tropics instead of Scotland!

Tenby, Pembrokeshire

There are lots of lovely beaches in Pembrokeshire but Tenby is one of the best places to unwind on the sand. It is the region’s main holiday resort, so don’t expect it to be quiet but there’s plenty of space for everyone so you’re sure to have a lovely time regardless.

High Force Falls, County Durham

This is one of the most spectacular waterfalls to be found in England so the perfect choice for some fun in the sun. You’ll make your way through some stunning countryside in Upper Teesdale before reaching the falls – and don’t forget your picnic as it’s the perfect spot for a bit of lunch.
